Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw had shown he was riding a purple patch last week with two wins and a second place finish, and that play continued this Sunday as his 39 points was five clear of the field.  Phil Lawrence and Don ‘the ladies’ man’ Lehmer were separated by a count back both tied on 34 points – Phil was judged to have the better inner nine.

A count back was also required to fill the fourth podium spot as Paul Sharples and Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby were locked on 32 points.  Paul managed to clip the Eagle’s wings.

Monday, July 4, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st Peter Henshaw (25) 34pts

2nd Marcus Earp (33) 34pts

3rd Mark Bamber (8) 33pts

The Lewiinski gang traveled down the highway 331 to take on the always challenging Treasure Hill.  The course was found to be in excellent condition with super-fast greens and tight fairways, which made scoring very difficult as the scores suggest.

I am not even going to mention his name only to say that the clean-up guy struck again, but this time he did need the aid of a count back to pip Marcus Earp to the top podium spot, both with best on the day 34 points.  Low handicapper Mark Bamber completed the podium a shot adrift.

Wednesday, July 6, Khao Kheow A & B – Stableford

1st Kevin Rogers (10) 36pts

2nd Jim Elphick (25) 36pts

3rd Mark Bamber (8) 35pts

4th Per-Olov Lindmark (25) 35pts

The Lewiinski’s mob traveled to the immaculate Pete and Perry designed Khao Kheow to play a stableford competition.  The course was in excellent condition and the pins were placed not to please.

Aussie star Kevin Rogers took the day’s honours but he was well contested to the very end, having to rely on a count back victory to snatch the top podium spot from Jimmy ‘two shots’ Elphick as both were tied on even par rounds.

Kevin and Jim were one stroke clear of Mark Bamber and Per-Olov Lindmark and the resulting count back was won by Mark, leaving Per-Olov to close the podium.

Friday, July 8, Parichat – Stableford

1st Akiyoshi Yamamoto (20) 36pts

2nd Kevin Mentee (12) 35pts

3rd Peter Henshaw (25) 33pts

A tidy group took to the road and headed up the 331 under dark and threating skies to play a course you either love or hate – Parichat, with its tight fairways and long water carries.

Top man on the day was Akiyoshi Yamamoto San who returned an excellent even par round.  Akiyoshi was followed up the podium steps by two players from the old sod, newly returned Co. Offaly gang leader Kevin Mcentee with 35 points and Peter ‘you know who from Co. Dublin with33 points.  This third place on the podium for Peter will sit well with his two wins this week.
