It seemed like it was raining long bombs on the diamond at softball this past Sunday, June 17 as a record 7 homeruns were recorded at the Thai Polo Club (our 1 month young, lovely venue).  Both old and new PSC softball members hit dingers.  Congratulations goes out to rookie Sam who hit a solid smash over the left field fence, while rocking Rodney hit 2 to right field (one was hit so hard, it may have been responsible for our 5 minute rain delay).

Welcome back to Brian Gavagan who came ready to play, wearing his sweet new spikes that he brought back from America.  He crushed 2 balls over the right field fence to win the best dressed homerun hitter award (you can see his 1st homerun shot in pic).  Not to toot my own horn, but yes, I hit 2 dingers as well, the last one being a walk-off homer to end the 3rd and final game.

Brian hits his 1st homerun of the day off a pitch from Rick S. Dirk at 1st base and Rodney at 2nd look on in amazement. Brian hits his 1st homerun of the day off a pitch from Rick S.  Dirk at 1st base and Rodney at 2nd look on in amazement.

It was a celebration of strong hitting and good fielding and everyone came home a winner.  John Stockton’s team sponsored by “Sunrise Tacos” in Jomtiem won the first game comfortably by a score of 15-4.  Dave’s team, sponsored by “The A Team Club” on Soi Excite beside the Bowling Green, came from behind in game 2, by scoring 4 runs in the last 2 innings to win 12-8.  The scribe’s team that was sponsored by “The Golf Club” in LK Metro won the 3rd and final game of the day by a score of 12-11.

Thanks also go out to the few newcomers to Pattaya Sports Club softball who put their athletic skills to the test.  Sammy’s strong fielding and solid hitting was warmly welcomed.  But it was Jamie’s sliding and sloshing about with his slippery shoes that made the game the most entertaining for our steadily increasing fanbase (I counted five, but math isn’t my forte).

It was yet another great day of softball action at the Thai Polo Club.  We welcome any and all athletes living in and around Pattaya to come out and join us.  Softball action starts at noon and goes until 4pm every Sunday, so why not start a good new habit and come out and join us.  Contact John Stockton ([email protected]) or myself (igolfwells@ gmail.com) or look us up at the PSC website.  Play ball!
