Travellers Rest Golf Group
Tuesday, August 13, The Emerald – Stableford
It was the Queen of Thailand’s birthday on Monday 12th August which meant it was a Thai Holiday, which also meant no golf for the TRGG. So the golf fanatics among the TRGG had to go cold turkey on Monday and it was Tuesday 13th August before they could get their next fix.
One man who knows all about going cold turkey is big Liam Horgan our affable Irishman. Liam however was not addicted to golf but the dreaded weed, tobacco. He informs me that with the help of his giant collection of E Cigs (electric cigarettes for the uninitiated) he has now gone six months without a cigarette, well done Liam.
Liam Horgan.
On Tuesday at Emerald, however, Liam was certainly smoking as he put together his best round of golf in his living memory and returned with 43 points, which was miles ahead of Robert Cannon who puffed his way into second place on 37 and even further ahead of Ted Senior who must have been suffering from withdrawal symptoms, only finishing third on 35.
1st Liam Horgan (14) 43pts
2nd Robert Cannon (17) 37pts
3rd Ted Senior (14) 35pts
Thursday, August 15, Phoenix – Stableford
On Thursday 15th August the TRGG headed off as usual to Phoenix (Lakes and Mountain) and the smokers among us fought back. Roger Wilkinson took one giant puff and blew the opposition away, but only just. He won on count back from Jim Cleaver both of them finishing on 37 points. Tewin Poopay Lamthong made it into third spot with 35.
1st Roger Wilkinson (11) 37pts
2nd Jim Cleaver (12) 37pts
3rd Tewin Poopay Lamthong (11) 35pts
Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a round of golf with the TRGG please phone Fergus Brennan on 086 056 7019 or pop into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists, which are posted on the notice board.
