The Backyard Golf Society
It was a very hot day for the Backyard golfers at Emerald last Friday, August 22. That long par 5, 14th, straight up hill is always a test for the walkers and even for some of our less than slim players in buggies. Once we get past that hole the ‘Quiet Man’ usually relaxes, as he contemplates who he can annoy down the road after the game.
The winner of the stableford competition this week was ‘Irish John’ (35 points), beating ‘The Biss’ by the smallest margin. Near-pin on the 15th went to ‘Jimmy 2 Stone’ and he also took the roll-over from the previous week’s game.
Irish John celebrates his golfing success with the staff at Blue Sky Bar.
The skins were well spread out with 3 each to ‘The Biss’ (now thankfully allowed out to play golf again after the new wife had him locked away for a while), ‘Jimmy 2 Stone’, Dannie Beaker Larsen and ‘Second-hand Bob’, singles to ‘The Quiet Man’, ‘Dan The Diet Whiskey Man’ and Russell, ‘He’s a Victorian’. 3 holes are rolled over to the next game.
It was a pretty uneventful day as far as strange behavior or unusual incidents amongst our group. We usually have something of note to report but everyone seems to have been on their best behavior, perhaps the heat had us all drained.
