Sunday, Sept. 27, Green Valley – Stableford
Another very pleasant day for golf in Green Valley when despite the bad forecast for heavy rain etc. we got around without even a shower. We also got around quickly, which always makes it even better.
As usual the course was in excellent condition but the greens seemed to be a bit slower than usual.
We had one very good score today; Ricky Hurley went around in three over par to score forty points off his seven handicap and win the day by three points. In second place Donal McGuigan also managed to beat his handicap and came in with thirty seven points. Rod Torrie played to his handicap to take third while Alec Hoare was fourth with thirty five. We had no ‘2’s today.

Tuesday, Sept. 29, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
This was our first time back at Mountain Shadow for a while and as usual we found the course quiet and in excellent condition.
Again today the forecast was for a lot of rain and on a few occasions it looked very much like it was going to come but we managed to get around before it started. When we were in the clubhouse after the game it started to come down very heavy so we all made a dash for Pattaya in case the roads would be flooded again and we would be left stranded on the motorway.
We had only one player who managed to play to his handicap today, that being Joe McArdle who won with thirty six points. In second place was John Clements with thirty five and we then had four players tied on thirty two; Alan Bishop, Russell Gilroy, John Fenwick and Ted Morriss, with Ted coming out the victor for third place on a count back. Again today we had no ‘2’s.
