The Backyard Golf Society
It was a warm and slow round for the Backyard golfers outing at Emerald last Friday, Sept. 25. With the society ahead of us having their biggest turn-out for many months there was a wait on just about every tee but we still got around in about 4 hours.
The course has benefitted greatly from the recent rains, even if some areas were damaged with the very heavy storm from last week.
The winner of the main competition was ‘Who Brought Him’ with 35 points. The near-pin was rolled-over as no one managed to stay on the par 3, 15th hole.
‘Irish John’ was the major winner in the skins with 8 and he also won the previous outing’s 4 roll-overs. ‘The Quiet Man’ won 5, ‘The Impregnator’ won 3 and there was a single skin to our new indigenous member ‘Wattie’(real name Wattathwat Wataboon).
We have temporarily lost ‘Foos yer Doos’, apparently he has picked up some much-needed work on the boats. There is also an honourable mention for Russell’s caddy who succumbed to the call of nature on the first tee no less and did not re-appear until the 3rd. Too much papaya bok-bok no doubt!
