Wednesday, May 17, Emerald G.C. – Stableford
There was no game on Monday after torrential overnight rain washed out play at Parachit. Here at Emerald there were only four groups and the cut in the two divisions came at 10-17 and 18+. There were around nine greens that have just been cored with no sand filling as yet, so it will be a few weeks before our next game here.
Steve Ironside, back here for a couple of weeks, won division 2 with 32 points and Alan Bissell was second two points behind, with Leo Adam settling for third with 27.
There were two 31’s in division 1 and on a 16/13 back nine count back Dave Horne beat Steve Godfrey for the win. Pete Sumner won another count back over Jerry Sweetnam to take third after they both came in with 29 points.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Dave Horne, Pete Sumner (2) and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Paul Butler, Curtis Hessler and David Taylor.
Friday, May 19, Eastern Star – Stableford
With a promising weather forecast we had five groups out today with the cut coming at 8-17 and 18+. There was no ‘pick, clean and place’ today and it was a perfect day, weather wise.
Playing off 17, Steve Godfrey returned the best score of the day to win division 1 with 38 points. Bill Bertram was second two points behind and Pete Sumner took third with 35.
Little David Taylor won his first prize for some considerable time in division 2, taking top spot with 32 points. Frank Kelly rolled in second on 31 and Colin Aspinall was third with 29.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Mikael Andersson (2), Pete Sumner and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Steve Godfrey and frank Kelly (2).
No ‘2’s in either division so a rollover to next Friday.
