Tuesday, April 2, The Emerald – Stableford
First game of the week on Tuesday saw a good sized crew, just 1 short of having 2 flights, visit Emerald, Ban Chang. The course was in good condition despite starting to dry out around the edges.
Good scores were to be the order of the day, with Jim Federspiel (17) continuing his fine form with a striking 43 points. Second and third needed a count back to finalise the order with Kurt Erik Persson (24) getting the nod 21/19 over Owen Walkley (11) after both signed for 40 points. Jeff Wylie’s (6) 39 points was made to look a bit pedestrian, but was just enough to get the final prize.
Near pins were spread around between Clive, Jeff, Owen & Mham.
Thursday, April 4, Century Chonburi – Stableford
Thursday came and we journeyed up the 331 to Century Chonburi, where the course was in reasonable condition, though the greens were a little on the un-cut side and subsequently lacked the fireworks they can produce.

Owen Walkley (11) & Allan Jones (27) needed a count back to separate them after both finished on a creditable 37 points. Owen’s outstanding back 9 of 24 points was enough to get the nod over Allan’s good 21 points. Only 3 podium spots today and it was the in-form Jim Federspiel (17) getting the third place money on a count back to the last 6 holes over Paddy Devereux (23), 12/9, after both had 34 points.
Near pins were picked up by Jonathan & Brian; Jonathan making birdie from about 4 inches and Brian almost making birdie, only the putt didn’t go in.
