An excellent turnout left Lewiinski’s to take part in the monthly medal at our regular Sunday visit to Green Valley.  The dark skies cleared as the lads headed out but returned with a vengeance to drench the tail enders, so much so that we nearly had a terrible accident.  Mickey Beresford was playing the eighteenth hole waiting to play a shot when lightning struck a tree about six feet away.  Please, when stuck in the middle of a thunder storm, take shelter and wait till it passes.

Jimmy ‘AK47’ Bell, whom this column has cited as a “nice guy” several times previously, finally won his first medal with Lewinski’s, but more importantly he took home the lead crystal whisky goblet embolic of the monthly medal.  He also won a bottle of Jameson’s Irish whiskey and to do so he had to shoot a dazzling net 69.

Moving on to the balance of B Flight we found Barry Tregurtha in second place thanks to a count back victory over Aussie star Lou ‘Zig-zag’ as both were a shot adrift of Jim.

In A Flight the action was equally as fierce as Big Kevin Hamilton stood on the top of the podium with a net 70.  The calculator was out again as Alex Tregurtha and John Low were locked on net 71’s, and Alex did the same as his dad and edged John for the silver.
