The Backyard Golf Society

After being overwhelmed in the first round of the matchplay competition against Jomtien Golf the previous week, we entered the second round needing a win to get a bit of pride back.

The day did not start off too well with Mike C reporting in with a bad back, so first reserve Dangle stepped up to replace him.  With 6 tee times booked instead of the normal 4 we were a bit concerned that something would go wrong but yet again the staff at Emerald Golf Course had everything organized.

After losing 7.5/4.5 in the first round we were hoping for a good start but needless to say it took 9 holes before all the alcohol was out of the majority of the Backyard Boys bodies from the day before!  A couple of performances merit a mention such as JJ being 6 holes down after 8 and then going on to win 2/1.  Broken Wing also got a little bit of pride back, after being soundly beaten in the first round, by beating Chris 5/4.

The Backyard Golf Society won the day 6.5/5.5 but congratulations go to Jomtien Golf for winning the overall game 13/11.  The day was not a total washout for ourselves as Neville and JJ took both nearest the pin prizes.

Everyone went back to Mama’s Bar afterwards for prize giving and proceeded to drink enough beer that there were concerns that Ban Chang would be dry on Saturday!
