Twelve golfers ventured out to play Eastern Star on Monday. It is a very good course and once they complete the club house it will be a venue that will have to be booked well in advance. We took the course on from the white tees with just only one division as our numbers dictated.

Well it was that man Mashi Kaneta that took the top prize with 38 points and was a clear winner. Into second place was Jerry Dobbs, a fine way to finish his tour of duty with an even par 36 while third place went to Tony Campbell, his first prize with us.

Thursday, August 9, Plutaluang – 4-Ball Better Ball

Four buses and a small number of cars transported our 36 golfers (nine groups) out to the course to play a 4-ball better ball in memory of our old golfing pal Tony Spagoni.

We attacked from the yellow tees at a distance of around 6100 yards, long enough for us. Playing North & West nines with North 6 being the hole where Tony passed away.

The course was in great nick, the fairways were mowed to a good length, greens ran true and the bunkers were clean and raked. So all in all it was a good course to play on.

The draw for playing groups was conducted based on current PSC Handicaps, the nine lowest handicapped golfers were drawn as captains.

We had a tie for first place and the 2 groups involved could not be separated. So the honors today went to the quartet of Rudy Regenass, Andy Zwart, Frank Riley & Dick Braimbridge and the team of Paul Hack, Brendan Cope, Kevin Smith & Andrew Allen. Filling the podium in third was the grouping of Peter MacDonald, Rocky Lawson, Glenn Smith & Tony Campbell.
