At Greenwood we had forty two contenders, all eager for a top three finish in their respective flights. In division one Klaus Fast finally broke through to take first place with a very respectable 37 points off a three-handicap, whilst in division two Bernie Ward, playing his last round before returning home, sealed his first victory with 37 points also.

Tuesday, Nov. 20, Green Valley – Stableford

Division 1

1st Klaus Fast (3) 40pts

2nd Roger Brocksopp (15) 39pts

3rd Geoff Pratt (15) 36pts

2nd Andy Nims (17) 34pts

3rd Mick McHale (17) 31pts

Tuesday saw the TRGG convoy head off to Green Valley for our regular weekly visit. The course and especially the greens have improved greatly over the past month or so and with good greens it’s not surprising that the lower handicappers did well.

Today, Klaus Fast recorded back to back wins with a fantastic one under par of the stick, posting 40 points and just held off Roger Brocksopp to take the line honours. In division two it was the “Mighty Samurai” Shigeki Toyoshima who rose above his contenders, shot his handicap and took first spot with 36 points.

Wednesday, Nov. 21, Plutaluang – Stableford

Division 1

1st Louis Flanagan (11) 40pts

2nd Terry Smith (12) 36pts

3rd Jeff Clohesy (13) 35pts

Division 2

1st Richard Talbot (17) 44pts

2nd Keith Seddon (32) 40pts

3rd John O’Donoghue (20) 34pts

Plutaluang is one of the best layouts for a golf course in Pattaya and if they could replace the cow grass on the fairways it would be an absolutely amazing course. It’s because of the cow grass we always opt to play ‘lift, clean and place’ and this was reflective in some of the high scores recorded today.

In division one it was Louis Flanagan, who has been playing some great golf lately and has continued to produce excellent performances both on and off the field, who took out the coveted first prize with a brilliant score of 40 points. In division two it was Richard Talbot who was making waves and causing concern for the current leader of the “Player of the Year” competition with an unbelievable 44 points.

Thursday, Nov. 22, Phoenix Gold – Stableford

Our regular Thursday visit to Phoenix and we were taking on the Mountain-Lake courses. Division one winner was Gez Williams, who with the benefit of a strong back nine finished the day with 39 points and was a clear winner. In division two Eun Suk-Choi brought home the bacon with a fine score of 37 points

Friday, Nov. 23, Burapha – Stableford

Burapha A & B

1st Michael Prideaux (12) 39pts

2nd Derek Thorogood (17) 37pts

Burapha C & D

1st Seil Peter (05) 39pts

2nd Richard Talbot (15) 39pts

3rd Mimi Fujimoto (6) 34pts

On Friday we had six groups off A & B and three groups of C & D and as we were playing two different courses it was decided that these would be two separate competitions.

On Burapha A & B it was Michael Prideaux who stole the limelight with an award winning 39 points.

On the alternate C & D course Seil Peter, who after a long spell of absence returned to play a round with the TRGG, carried on where he left off by posting 39 points and just managing to keep R.C. Talbot at bay to claim victory.

Saturday, Nov. 24, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Division 1

1st Mike Rushant (10) 37pts

2nd Mimi Fujimoto (3) 34pts

3rd Louis Flanagan (12) 32pts

Division 2

1st Bruce Berriman (17) 36pts

2nd Eddie Townsend (20) 36pts

3rd Ed Brubaker (19) 34pts

We closed the week out at Mountain Shadow with an incredible thirty four players. Mike “The Machine” Rushant oiled his cogs, slipped into top gear on the back nine and produced a fine round of 37 points to take the checkered flag.

In division two Bruce Berriman, in his first round since September, scored 36 points and just managed to edge “Ocker” Eddie by virtue of a stronger back nine.
