PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, August 29, Khao Kheow – Stableford

Fifteen golfers accepted the challenge of handling Khao Kheow, a great but not easy course.  The weather was on our side and as per usual the course was in tip top condition.  We played the A and C nines in that order from the yellow tees and the course was a pleasure to play and held its own against most of the field.

With the numbers we had we were to play one flight only and Rona Carungay (the only female in the field today) played well enough to take first place on count back from Mashi Kaneta, both scoring a very credible 38 points each.  J.J. Harney took out third spot, having just returned from Ireland and not having played golf for 6 months.  A job well done!  Mine host made a suggestion that the 6 months could have been well used refreshing his joke book!

The evergreen Ebrahim took the fourth position on the podium.

1st Rona Carungay (22) 38pts

2nd Mashi Caneta (14) 38pts

3rd JJ Harney (13) 36pts

4th Ebrahim Al-Ansari (14) 35pts

Thursday, Sept. 1, Treasure Hill – Stableford

A good size field of 30 golfers headed out to Treasure Hill to be welcomed with a very cheap round of golf, Bt. 1,000 all inclusive & a course in good condition.  The conditions were overcast and with little wind about it was a wee bit humid.

A Grade was won by the old master himself Martin Todd, whose 31 points on a tricky Treasure Hill course was sufficient to get the chocolates from another consistent performer in Mashi Kaneta, with Steve Younger taking third.  This meant that Steve won a side challenge (City Garden V Urban) against Alex Field.  Rumour has it Steve has approached the City Garden sales office to get the staff to also record golf handicaps as new tenants arrive, so that he can go on a recruitment drive to crush the Urban!

Hugh Knox smashed the field in B Grade with an outstanding 41 points.  That is a great round of golf right there!  His score was well clear of Mark West with third place going to Rona Carungay who rarely misses a placing these days.

C Grade saw Shane “Jockey” Young win despite having to fend off a red ant attack of gigantic proportions.  He was reported to say that he was entitled to a free drop as for him they have weapons of mass destruction!  A surprise chip in was reportedly met with a jaw drop of equal gigantic proportions by one P.R.H. Grey who had a wee match play stake in the balance.  John Anderson filled second spot by way of a count back from Patrick Poussier.
