Koh Samui adventure race set for September

The third edition of the ibis Koh Samui Trophy adventure race will take place on September 17, 2011 and is expected to attract at least 100 teams from around the world.

The event, which will start and end on Bophut Beach, will include a multitude of disciplines with competitors hiking and running through unspoiled jungle, paddling and swimming on the turquoise waters of the gulf of Thailand and cycling over the hills with spectacular views on the ocean.  There will also be mystery tests for the teams to try and solve on their way around the course.

The race is divided into various categories depending age and ability and according to race organizer Serge Henkens is “really accessible to everyone!”

Top Asian teams will be coming from China, Hong Kong and Singapore to challenge local champions and last year winners Saman Gunnan and Seree Ruansiri.

The winners of the extreme division are expected to complete the course in approximately 4:30 while the fastest team in the Adventure division is planned to finish in around 3:30.
