Action from the 2013 Pink Polo tournament as Thai Polo take on St. Regis in one of the round-robin matches.
Nunthinee Tanner, chairman of the St. Regis Hotels & Resorts Ltd., and a co-organizer of the event, commented: “I have been aware of the danger of breast cancer as one of the most serious causes of suffering for women nowadays and have learned that there had been a large number of women out there who lack knowledge about the disease and the opportunities for treatment. So, now in its fifth year, the polo ladies’ tournament is a showcase of the prowess of women polo players who come together annually not only in a bid to display their skills but also to raise funds for the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer. The theme of pink has been chosen because that’s the colour that symbolizes the fight against breast cancer.”
A show-jumping contest was one of the highlights of the day.
The event once again featured a pre-match fashion show on horseback led by models, actors and members of high society, all donning the latest creations by Azona, Burberry, Catimini, Mango and Mezzo Piano.
Harald Link, the Chairman of the B. Grimm Group and a co-owner of Thai Polo Club then drove a sleek Porsche car onto the field to lead out the teams and match officials in formation. The matches between the all female teams of St. Regis, Thai Polo and La Boheme were held in a round robin format and featured a plethora of fast-paced and thrilling polo action which wowed the spectators. In the end the La Boheme team prevailed and took to the podium to collect the prestigious Queens Cup.
All smiles from Harald Link, the Chairman of the B. Grimm Group and one of the organizers of the event.
