IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf

Sunday, May 10, Green Valley – Stableford

Back at Green Valley today and the course was in beautiful condition after the pro championship, with faster than usual greens.  It was another hot day for golf but at least we got around dry.

Jon Batty doesn’t usually play golf on Sundays but he decided to join us today and proceeded to take the top spot with thirty-five points.  Joe Peters was second with thirty four and Paul Pavloff, who had just returned and was playing his first game for this trip came third a further point back.

The ‘2’s pot was shared by Paul Pavloff and Peter McCrory.

1st Jon Batty (8) 35pts

2nd Joe Peters (22) 34pts

3rd Paul Pavloff (6) 33pts

Tuesday, May 12, Eastern Star – Stableford

Today we enjoyed ‘millionaire’s golf’ at Eastern Star, almost a private course all to ourselves with not a soul in sight.  This is by far the best time of the year to play golf in Thailand as most of the courses are quiet and also cheaper.  Eastern Star is a perfect example, with low green fees and a very sensible price for the golf carts.  Although the fairways could do with a bit of watering, the course is generally in very good condition and the greens are excellent and fast.

As there was no one on the course but ourselves, we had a very quick round and Joe McArdle was the only one who managed to play to his handicap and won the day with thirty-six points while Joe Peters came in second a full six points in arrears.  There were no ‘2’s today.

1st Joe McArdle (13) 36pts

2nd Joe Peters (22) 30pts

Thursday, May 14, Burapha – Stableford

A lot of rain this morning in Pattaya and it looked like there was going to be no golf.  Some of the players decided to give it a miss as Burapha does not give rain checks but the rest of the group decided to take a chance and go out to see what it was like.  Well before we got there the rain had stopped and it turned out to be a beautiful day for golf, cloudy and not hot, just perfect actually!

Again we all played off the long Blue tees and we had some very good scores off them.  Mark Lang, playing off five handicap, went around in two over gross to score thirty nine points and win the day.  That was excellent golf on such a long course, which was playing even longer than usual as the fairways were wet after all the rain in the morning.

Paul Pavloff, playing off six, had thirty six-points and came second, beating Joe McArdle in to third on a count back which went down to the last six holes.

Jon Batty got the only ‘2’ of the day and actually had it on a par four, not a par three.

1st Mark Lang (5) 39pts

2nd Paul Pavloff (6) 36pts

3rd Joe McArdle (13) 36pts
