Monday, May 28, Bangpra – Stableford

The forecast was quite reasonable today and as we pulled into the course the car park was almost full. We ambled down to the very crowded first tee and the marshall confirmed they were running 25 minutes behind schedule. It was a tough struggle out there today with a five hour and 15minute very slow round and the heat was immense on the course with no breeze at all, the majority of walkers wished they had taken a buggy for the day.

The equal cut in the two divisions was set at 4-21 and 22+ and with 35 points the highest score of the day came from Peter Davies who won division 2.  Gordon Everingham was second one point behind Peter, Leo Adam took third on 32 and in fourth place with 28 points was a rather embarrassed Steven Cliff.

Still playing off 4, Russell Goldsworthy topped the podium in division 1 with 34 points, Pete Sumner was second two points behind, Paul Young placed third on 30 and down for a one off game from Khao Yai was Tim Hake who took fourth with 29.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Russell Goldsworthy, John Hughes and Pete Sumner, and (Div 2) Peter Davies and Ray Daws (2).

Pete Sumer and Pete Davies recorded the only ‘2’s on the day.

Wednesday, May 30, Eastern Star – Stableford

The weather looked very threatening on the way down to the course but all the groups teed off at the normal time. We reached the 11th and the rain started, but it was only drizzle and lasted for this hole only so we were very lucky.

Leo Adam won division 2 with 40 points, Tony Thorne was second on 32, Peter Davies third one point further back and Steven Cliff completed the podium in fourth on 30 points.

Lower scores today in division 1 with Nik Evans winning with 32 points, Ian Speirs was second on 31, Paul Butler third with 29 and Frank Kelly fourth on 28.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Paul Butler, Nik Evans, John Hughes and Pete Sumner, and (Div 2) Steven Cliff (2).

Only one ‘2’ today and it came from John Hughes on the 13th in division 1.

Friday’s game at Green Valley was cancelled due to a heavy downpour just before we were due to tee off.
