PSC golf from Siam Country Resort
Tuesday, April 29, Pattavia – Stableford
After taking a break for Songkran, when players avoided the water, there was no escaping a deluge last week as lots of rain and heavy electrical activity filled the air. Pattavia was the venue for Tuesday and the players had to take shelter at about the halfway mark of the round. The course was in good condition and quickly drained and was back to playable after about 45 minutes with the weather holding off for the balance of the round.
Jonathan Pratt (10) continued his recent resurgence with a solid 35 from the white tees at about 6,600 yards, just tipping out Jeff Wylie (7) who could manage only 34 points. Sam was the sole winner of a near pin this week with the small field.
Friday, May 2, Wangjuntr Highlands – Stableford
Thursday was a holiday so we opted for a Friday game at Wangjuntr Highlands, as it had been a while since our last trip here, plus we had a couple of debutants who had not played this course before.
As the headline alludes to, we were once again caught out by the weather, with a severe electrical storm and associated deluge necessitating a rest stop of 1½ hours. However the course was playable in surprisingly quick time, so it was onwards and upwards from Hole 6 on, with ‘lift, clean & place’ to ensure fairness for all.
There was no competition today, to ensure everybody had time to “smell the roses” as it were, with this course striking for both its views & hazards. I will say that Jonathan played well in patches, but all attendees enjoyed the course and the day, despite the extended delay making it an after dark return to SCR.
Note: Siam Country Resort, Restaurant & Bar is located just off Siam Country Club Rd, after going under the arch past the 7/11, turn right after 50 metres, with the venue on the left another 200 metres along. Golf from here is generally played on Tuesday & Thursday, with the Resort hosting prompt presentations on both days.
