Two buses loaded with enthusiastic golfers departed The Swan for the trip up the highway to Greenwood Golf Club. The travel time to this wonderful course is getting shorter as the roadworks continue; one can only hope that they do not do anything stupid with the pricing.
Bus chatter was about the weather and the condition of the course, given the rain we had had. Fifty minutes later our questions were answered: “no carts on course” so we played ‘pick, clean & place’ as the course did show signs of holding water.
We played courses B & C and with no run on the fairways we went from the front tees. The course was in good condition considering the rain, with the greens also playing true. Weather was on our side with no sign of rain and it became quite warm as the day went on.
Randy Lodinger put in a great solo effort today, amassing 40 points and taking him 3 points clear off the field. We had to use the count back system as second and third both returned the same scores. Winning the count back was Ebrahim, pushing Mike Jones into third position.

The Growling Swan golfers hit the Burapha course today with enthusiasm. The course standard was high, which is common for this club and the caddies also fall into this category.
Due to three self DQ’s (disqualifications) some people who should have been on the podium today were not. This is a first for the Growling Swan as far as this scribe can recall.
It was disappointing to hear that one golfer today had 18 on the front nine then followed up with 10 from the first 4 holes on the back. So that’s 28 points from 13 holes, and that was his total score, 5 pickups in a row! Nevertheless, it made Cavin Kenyon and Kissy Buchanan happy as they were both next in line to take out first and second places with 34 points. Cavin edged ahead on the count back. In third spot was Alex Field followed by Mike Gosden and Ebrahim Al-Ansari.
