PSC golf from Café Kronborg

Monday, Nov. 26, Plutaluang E&S – Stableford

We were off to the Royal Thai Navy Plutluang, down south for a 45 minute transit.  The usual fast check-in enabled us to get off the East 1 tee 20 minutes early under overcast skies and humid conditions.  The course on the day was in good condition but very wet as the wet season is unseasonably back, conditions that I have not seen here before despite being a resident for 22 years.

Back in the clubhouse after a round of 4 hours and 20 minutes a welcome went out to Hugh O’Donnel, back from Spain and California, while goodbyes were said to Arne Max Pedersen and Lottie Boskov, back to Denmark but returning early in the new year when they need defrosting.

Two flights today with the cut at handicap 21 and scores were not good due to the wet conditions and the white tees pushed back.

Jan Lovgreen won the A Flight with 34 points, Arne Max Pederson returned 33 points for second and Daryl Evans took third ahead of Mike Winfield in fourth.

Mick O’Connor won the B Flight with 33 points, Graham Buckingham was second on 29, Jens Erik Nielsen took third with 28 and Kurt Sandgaard was fourth on a count back from Henny Nielsen, both on 27 points.

A Flight (0-21)

1st Jan Lovgreen (21) 34pts

2nd Arne Max Pedersen (15) 33pts

3rd Daryl Evans (20) 32pts

4th Mike Winfield (21) 31pts

B Flight (22+)

1st Mick O’Connor (22) 33pts

2nd Graham Buckingham (23) 29pts

3rd Jens Erik Nielsen (25) 28pts

4th Kurt Sandgaard (36) 27pts

Thursday, Nov. 29, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

It was off to our old friend Pattaya Country Club on Thursday, last visited in March before the renovation.  A journey of 23 minutes and as usual we were greeted by Jenny and her friendly staff with a very efficient check-in.  We got off the first tee 40 minutes early under overcast skies and wet conditions underfoot.  The front nine was very wet with a lot of grass not being cut due to the recent weather.

The newly refurbished back nine was a pleasure to play and even bone dry; it has the look and feel of the Siam Old Course with humps and hollows on the greens.  I played this nine when it first opened in November of 1996 and what we played today beats it by a mile, although there are some things to be done like getting the yardage markers in the right places, but mostly everybody liked it and we will be back the end of December.

One flight today won by Jan Lovgreen with a nice 39 points ahead of Mike Winfield in second with 37, Mike Allidi, Brian Noguer fourth and Leif Kirkgaard edging fifth spot on a count back over Kurt Sandgaard.

1st Jan Lovgreen (21) 39pts

2nd Mike Winfield (21) 37pts

3rd Mike Allidi (2) 36pts

4th Brian Noguer (22) 33pts

5th Leif Kirkgaard (16) 32pts
