PSC Golf from The Outback Golf Bar

Monday, July 20, Burapha – Stableford

As usual we got away early and had the course to ourselves with our seven groups playing C and D in cooler overcast weather.  Apart from a few wet patches in front of some greens, the course was in great condition though the greens were slow by Burapha’s usual standard.

Welcome back to Rogan Hampson and also to Dave Wells as generally the Kiwis had a day out with some great scores.  Carl Thomson won Div B with 42 points, ahead of Tim Knight (37), Peter Moon (36) and Jimmy Little fourth on c/b from Suugar Ray, both with 34.

John Low Low extended his late tour form to win the top division on 40 points, from fellow Kiwi, Dion Lane (38), Dennis Pelly (37) and Neil Hughes 34.

Kim Danboise, Murray Hart and Tim Knight all had ‘2’s on D2.

Outback opinion: Weather – cooler & overcast; Check in – quick & friendly; Tee time – early; Fairways – good; Rough – average; Greens – slower than usual; Bunkers – well raked; Value for money – very good; Pace of play – under 4hrs; Drink stations open – all open; Restaurant – not visited.

2nd Dion Lane (15) 38pts

4th Jimmy Little (21) 34pts

Tuesday, July 21, Laem Chabang – Stableford

The weather was cloudy, cool and no rain at Laem Chabang on Tuesday.  The slope and index rating here from the white tees meant that John Low played from a single figure 9 handicap, which did not bother him in the least as he stomped home with honors with a respectable 34 points.  In second place, assuming his usual Mr. Steady position, was Mike Missler with 33 points while Dion Lane, who has been constantly improving on the Kiwi tour, completed the winners’ circle with a good 32 points.

A single ‘2’ by none other than John Low ensured that he walked away with most of the loot on this fabulous course.  Well done to John!

1st John Low (09) 34pts

2nd Mike Missler (04) 33pts

3rd Dion Lane (11) 32pts

Wednesday, July 22, Bangpra – Stableford

Five groups played a well-presented Bangpra on a cool overcast day.  The large lake outside the course is showing how dry it is and how much we need rain, as the old dam wall is now very visible and every two weeks when we go there you can see the water level dropping.

There were no ‘2’s today so we had three places in two divisions.  We welcomed back Gordon Clegg and John Cogan who came first and second respectively in division 2; Gordon having 34 points and John 33, with Rogan Hampson next on 31.  Consistent Steve Mann won division 1 with 35 points, from Peter Nixon (33) and Kim Danboise on 31.

Outback opinion: Weather – fine & overcast; Check in – efficient; Tee time – early; Fairways – good; Rough – light; Greens – average; Bunkers – well raked; Value for money – very good; Pace of play – 4hrs; Drink stations open – all open; Restaurant – very good.

Div A (0-15)

1st Stephen Mann (11) 35pts

2nd Peter Nixon (10) 33pts

3rd Kim Danboise (14) 31pts

Div B (16+)

1st Gordon Clegg (36) 34pts
