Twenty golfers padded up for a game and Emerald GC was the destination for the day. The course was in good condition and we played two flights from the white tees.

Steven Lynch was introduced to us as a reasonable golfer, a 4-handicapper who today went around the course and collected 41 points along the way. Not a bad days work at all. Second past the post in A Flight was Nick Hauge, one shot behind the winner and third needed to be sorted out via our countback system, the place going to Mashi Kaneta over the unlucky Paul Hack.

B Flight saw a return to the winners circle for Patrick Poussier and thirty eight points gave him the nod in today’s event. Second place went to Gordon Clegg five points off the pace, with Robert Cross taking out the last spot on the podium.

Thursday, August 1, Burapha – Stableford

B-Flight

1st Shane Young (24) 35pts

2nd Alex Field (17) 30pts

Burapha was today’s choice of course, probably the best we play in our price range. We attacked the course from the white tees and played C & D in that order.

Peter MacDonald and Eric Black both handed cards in with the same amount of points (36) in A Flight, but there has to be a winner and a loser and the countback system gave the day to Peter Mac, having two extra points on the back nine. On the way around Mac had his name on most of the markers but all did not stand up! Third place on the podium went to Paul Kennedy.

It was Shane Young’s day in B Flight and looking at the scores he did it with a leg in the air. 35 points not only got him across the line but helped him to win a personal bet. For Second place we had to revert to the countback system again as three players were vying for two places. Second place went to Alex Field, five shots behind our leader and taking third was Rocky Lawson, Tony Campbell being the unlucky golfer missing out.
