Wednesday, October 2nd Green Valley Stableford
So we are moving inexorably to the day that all golf courses use as an excuse to charge you more for your regular game of golf, from November 1st or ‘the high season’ as they like to call it. But for now have a thought for the caddies for many are only working two, maybe three, times per week just waiting for the ‘high season’ (if there is one) for the harvest that awaits them.
Today the men once again let the side down with, overall, some pretty poor performances. One visitor to these shores came in contact with so much water he will certainly need his ball retriever re-gripped for his next trip.
36 points covered the first three today with Auke Engelkes (13) who had a good front nine but the wheels came off after the turn with 2 blobs and 2 one pointers for 3rd place. Mike Stennet (24) a regular visitor to these shores and celebrating his 47th birthday had a steady round with 18 points on each half to finish 2nd behind Dan Margett (22) who had the better back nine with 19 points.
For the women, 1st place Miss Thip (13) can blame holes 10 – 14 for only 6 points to finish 3rd with 37 points, one behind Miss Prae (36) who had a gross 47 on the back nine and 24 points, but her clubs overheated at the turn for 14 points which included 3 blobs. Not for the first time Miss May (11) finished on top with 39 points, dropping shots on only 2 holes but 4 three pointers helped towards her 20 points on the way home.
Only one 2 today going to Miss Lynn.
