PSC Golf from The Golf Club
Monday, Sept. 24, Green Valley (white tees) – Monthly Medal
1st Dan Margetts net 71
2nd Phil Smedley net 71
T3rd Peter Thomas net 72
T3rd Gary Emmett net 72
We kick-started this week’s with our 135th monthly medal. As most of you may know, the prize is one of our monogrammed Antigua golf shirts which are the absolute greatest for our tropical heat and humidity.
There was the occasional lightning blasting through overcast skies but that was in the distance and did not affect us or even bring any rain. If anything, it helped to cool things down.
The course was our regular Monday venue of Green Valley and a field of 24 hit the fairways. Fred Birch didn’t win it but he did scoop our Caddy Smile near pin at least. On the podium, it was a very close contest and a net 72 was turned in by Gary Emmett and Peter Thomas to share third place. Watch out for those coconut trees Gary!
The winner was Dan Margetts, visiting from England and just beating our own Captain Phil who lost on countback at the 71 mark.
Friday, Sept. 28, Khao Kheow (white tees) – Stableford
1st Richie McGhie (3) 41pts
T2nd Roger Awad (22) 37pts
T2nd Pierre Gymer (25) 37pts
Khao Kheow continues to impress and today the challenge of the A & B tracks were on the schedule. The course was in good nick and our special green fee of 800 baht made the day very appealing!
Angelino Roger Awad and Brit Pierre Gymer had to share second place on the podium as both turned in a respectable 37 on the card. Our good buddy Richie McGhie is back with a vengeance and warming up before a tournament in Malaysia. Ritchie took an easy victory from the lads by 4 shots and his 41 was top of the heap. Good luck in K.L. mate!
