PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s

Tuesday, April 23, Green Valley – Stableford

Well it seems like the exit from Pattaya due to several days of getting wet and the worry about the exchange rate, reflected on the numbers playing.  It also has to be said that this is the ‘low season’ and that at this time of the year we usually get a big dip in the numbers, despite the favorable rates.

So into transport and off to Green Valley we went.  This is a fairly straightforward trip these days and we were soon there.  With the lower numbers we were off a little bit later than expected, but still were away on time.  The course was as you would expect Green Valley to be, except that the greens were going through their sanding time, so were a bit of a problem.  However the fairways were fine and the rough as can be expected.

The showers here are fine and when you finish changing you have a choice of many eating places.  I usually go to the German Restaurant as I have a taste for the German food having lived there for some 16 years of so.  Mashi has his own favourite, you can guess where.  They also have some fine German beer, if I am not driving.

Back in Bert’s we were soon into the presentation.  The winner was Mashi Kaneta who was back to his best with 41 points, ahead of Mike Gaussa with a very good 38 points in second.  We then had a count back on 36 points that saw Andre Van Dyk in third and John Vincent in fourth.

Friday, April 26, Crystal Bay – Stableford

13 players turned up today after 2 called off just as we were eating our breakfast at Tropical Bert’s – too bad for those two as they missed a fine day out.  A quick trip up the “3”, check in and the first group was off A1 20 minutes early, playing the A & B Nines, which were in very good condition with the greens running at good speed and true.  All groups finished in 4 hours.

Scores gathered and back at Bert’s just after 4.00 p.m., it was time for the results.  The winner was Max Scott with a really good 39 points ahead of Mike Gaussa with 37 in second and a count back on 36 points that saw Dick Warberg third and and Mike O’Brien just missing out.

Then we had a few cold ones to see off John Vincent.
