Last week was our Lamlukka trip with 17 players. Day one was the mighty championship course of A & B, most players had never played it but A flight was playing off the yellow tees at 6,666 yards and thought they could conquer it. B flight went off the whites at 6,229 yards and the low scores in both flights said it all: great track in fantastic condition but very difficult.

Mark Watkins thought he would be in the frame today with 17 points on the front nine but the wheels came off the back with only 10 on the inward half. Mick Beresford’s caddie forgot his putter on the second green and things went rapidly downhill for him from there.
Steve Mann top scored for the day with 35 points and was three ahead of his closest pursuers in A flight. Bob Mattes took first place in B flight with 33 points with Gerry Roach taking the silver.
Near pins went to John Stafford, Mark Watkins and Phil Mitchell.
