A little bit of confusion here today when we arrived for our regular Sunday game at Green Valley as we found we were being moved over to one of the other courses.  By a majority vote we decided to play Silky Oak and it turned out to be a good decision as most of our group were happy with the condition of the course and enjoyed it as a change.

We had some great scores and playing to your handicap didn’t get you even near the prizes today.  Kevin Blake went round in two over par gross to score forty one points and come out the winner.  Tom Shea was playing his first game with us for a long time and he certainly hasn’t lost his touch as he actually went round in level par gross to score forty points and take second.  Donal McGuigan also played excellent golf and had a score which would normally win but today his thirty nine points was only good enough for third place.

Surprisingly, despite all the good scores we had today we had no ‘2’s.

Tuesday, June 20, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

One of our favorite courses today, Mountain Shadow for another day of millionaire’s golf as there wasn’t another person to be seen on the course except ourselves.  We teed off early and went round quickly, which is the way we like to play golf.

While we found the course in excellent condition the greens were not quite up to the standard we would normally expect here and much slower than usual.  Again we gave our golfers a choice of tees, blue or white.

Off the blue tees the scoring wasn’t so good and Gerry Hannan came out the winner with thirty two points.  Andy Featherstone also had thirty two but lost the count back and had to settle for second, however Andy had the only ‘2’ of the day off either tees so he wasn’t too disappointed.

Ted Morris had what was by far his best game in a very long time off the white tees and today he was a very clear winner with an excellent forty two points, a score which will see his handicap come tumbling down again.  Don Everett was six shots behind Ted but still came second with thirty six while Joe McArdle was a further two shots behind in third.

We were back at Burapha today on what was another beautiful day for golf.  Although there had been very heavy rain the previous night and this morning the course was in excellent condition and not too wet and as usual a pleasure to play.

Today for a change we played the more difficult C and D courses, which was our first time this year to play these nines.  The change was certainly good for one of our group.  Joe McArdle has been having a bad spell at the golf lately but today he was back to his old self and came out a very clear winner with an excellent forty points, a score which should bring his handicap back down a bit.

Gerry Hannan kept up his good golf and today was second with thirty six points.  We then had two players on thirty five points with Russell Gilroy winning the count back to come third and Andy Featherstone, who had played very well on the front nine losing it to come fourth.

We had three ‘2’s today from Joe McArdle, Ted Morris and Don Everett.
