Sunday, Sept. 11, Green Valley – Medal

Back on an ever-improving Green Valley today and time once again for our monthly medal competition.

Frank McGowan.
Frank McGowan.

We had a new winner and today it was a very close call, with the count back going down to the last six holes.  Frank McGowan was the winner with a net seventy one which included a two shot penalty for playing a wrong ball out of a bunker, something which in the past would not have been a penalty but now is after a rule change.

Paul Pavloff was the one who lost out on the count back but he wasn’t too disappointed as he has already got a medal and is qualified for the gold medal competition in January.

There was a gap of four shots between the top two and the third place, with Donal McGuigan the bronze with a net seventy five.  Rod Torrie got the fourth place with a net seventy six, beating Allan Parker into the fifth and last podium place on count back.

Although we had a reasonably large group out today we had no ‘2’s.

1st Frank McGowan (19) net 71

2nd Paul Pavloff (5) net 71

3rd Donal McGuigan (17) net 76

4th Rod Torrie (11) net 76

5th Allan Parker (8) net 76

Thursday, Sept. 15, Burapha – Stableford

Only two games this week as we didn’t play on Tuesday due to bad weather.  On Thursday we had a very nice day for golf with no rain and not too hot.  Again we decided to play two flights, off both the blue and white tees to make it enjoyable for everyone.  Although the course was playing long with all the rain over the past few days, we still got the best score of the day off the blue tees.

Lyle Blaw.

We had no ‘2’s today in either flight.
