Sunday, March 3, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
It was another enjoyable visit to Mountain Shadow for our usual Sunday outing. It seems to be getting a bit quieter around the club now and we got off ten minutes before our scheduled time.
Despite an unusual heavy shower of rain for this time of year when we had to take cover for about twenty minutes, we still managed to get around in just a little over four hours.
Again only one of our group managed to play to his handicap and that was Frank McGowan with 36pts. Frank has been having a very good spell at the golf lately and has become a regular visitor to the podium. In second place was Joe Peters with 33pts, beating George Dearson (who was on his first visit with us) in to third place on a count back.
There were no 2’s today although at least one of our group missed a very good opportunity to get one.

Tuesday, March 5, Green Valley – Stableford
Today we had our first visit to Green Valley since we started our group and for many of us it was a welcome return, because the course was so busy during high season we had not been able to get tee times there up till now. For a course that gets so much play it is in excellent condition, both greens and fairways.
Charlie Lapsley won the day with an excellent 38pts and on his first visit with us Rick Holmes was second with 37. Joe McArdle came third with 34 and three people had birdie 2’s.

Thursday, March 7, Laem Chabang – Stableford
Today we went to Laem Chabang and what a great experience it is to go there. From the moment you go in the entrance it is just beautiful, manicured to perfection wherever you look.

We had a large group out today as we are getting very good value there, up to 40% discount on the green fees as we have a few members of Laem Chabang playing with us and they can get good discounts for everyone. For that reason and because the course is so beautiful we will be playing there every Thursday for the rest of March at least.
We played the C and A courses today which are the most difficult and once again Frank McGowan was the winner, coming in with an excellent 40pts. That is Frank’s third win with us in the last week so the handicap will be coming down quickly now!
Eamonn Murtagh was second with 38pts, which was also a very good score, especially as we played the C course. George Cullen came third with 35pts after beating Charlie Lapsley on a count back.
The 2’s were won by Frank McGowan and George Cullen.
