With the biggest field on a Monday for some time (30+), enthusiasm was high as the players headed out to tackle Treasure Hill.
Playing off the yellow tees the day seemed a little tough from looking at the scores, but it is Treasure Hill, a very hard course that will test the best of golfers. With narrow fairways and the odd tree being placed in the middle of the fairway on a few occasions, it is a tough course. Fortunately the weather stayed with us and it turned out to be a good day to play.
This course at this price leaves nothing in the bag and as usual it was in good condition and played well, with plenty of run (if you can stay on the fairways) and the greens to keep you honest.
Two Flights today and in A-Flight (0-18) it was Mike Johns that rose to the occasion with a healthy 36 points. Second went to a count back with Dave Maw winning from Al Marumoto, while Eric Black took fourth spot two further back.
B –Flight (19+) saw the consistent Patrick Poussier taking the No 1 spot with 33 points while coming in second was the very consistent JC Lhoste. Brad Todd placed third with 30 points and a very surprised Lorraine Percy finished fourth.

Two buses were loaded and left the Growling Swan a little earlier than the scheduled 8.30am departure time as all golfers were keen to get away early. The weather looked to be on our side and it looked to be a good day.
There was plenty of run on the fairways and as always the greens were tricky and downhill putts were giving the players more palpitations than a cricket umpire reaching for the light meter. The condition of the rest of the course was up to good standards.
We only played the 1 flight after a couple of late pullouts dropped our playing numbers to below twenty.
It was Mike Johns again who set the standard for the day. Having what one would say is a “purple patch”, Mike led the field from the start and never looked back. It was 37 points that took him to the winners circle and only one in arrears was Alex Field taking second position. Mashi Kaneta then followed a further shot behind in third with Brad Todd getting the nod in front of four others for fourth (all having the same score).
