Monday, Nov. 6, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st Mike Rushant (13) 35pts

2nd Tristan Gilbert (12) 32pts

3rd Ted Senior (16) 31pts

On Monday the TRGG visited Treasure Hill on a blustery but dry day.  One man who like to keep the ball under the wind is Ted Senior and his 31 points may not have set the golf course alight but they were good enough for third place.

If any player’s game is not suited to Treasure Hill it must be Tristan Gilbert’s.  The lumberjack from Sticksville, Canada, likes to smash the ball as high and far as possible.  On this occasion it worked as his ball was too high for the wind to affect it.  His 32 points were good enough for the second spot.

The winner of the day came in the form of Mike Rushant as he scored 35 points.  This was a particularly good score considering the conditions.

Tuesday, Nov. 7, Phoenix – Stableford

Division 1

1st Alastair Anderson (15) 35pts

2nd Mike Rushant (13) 35pts

3rd David Booth (16) 34pts

Division 2

1st Saito Toshikatsu (25) 40pts

2nd James Stuart (18) 35pts

3rd Peter McGinty (23) 28pts

Tuesdays visit to Phoenix marked the last visit the TRGG will be making to their local course until the low season reappears in March.  A nice 5 hour round was a fitting way to finish this period.

There were enough players to have 2 divisions and in division 2 Peter McGinty scored 28 points for third spot.  James Stuart’s impressive 35 points was enough to take second but the winning round of 40 points came from Saito Toshikatsu.

In division 1 David Booth shot 34 points to claim third and the ever-consistent Mike Rushant hit 35 the silver.  The winner of the day however, came in the shape of Alastair Anderson who matched Mike Rushant’s score but beat him on count-back.

Wednesday, Nov. 8, Burapha – Stableford

1st Barry Garbo (16) 36pts

2nd Richard Talbot (18) 35pts

3rd Bob Newman (10) 32pts

Today the group playing the unusual combination of courses B and D and fast greens and thick rough meant that scoring was not as easy as usual.

The long game of Bob Newman got him in a number of unusual positions on the course but this did not stop him from scoring 32 points and taking third position.  The scribe managed to secure second with a hard earned 35 points but was not good enough for the top prize.   This went to the left handed Barry Garbo and his 36 points were good enough on a day when there were an unusual amount of low totals.

Thursday, Nov. 9, Silky Oak – Stableford

1st Dinga Doyle (14) 43pts

2nd Barry Garbo (16) 39pts

3rd Ed Brubaker (18) 35pts

Silky Oaks was the destination on Thursday and Ed Brubaker shot an impressive 35 points for third place.  Barry Garbo still glowing from his victory from the day before claimed second with 39 but no one came close to the round produced by Dinga Doyle as his 43 points from his 14 handicap saw him stroll to victory.

Friday, Nov. 10,
The Emerald – Stableford

1st Mike Rushant (13) 39pts

2nd Freddy Starbeck (12) 39pts

3rd John Baxter (18) 35pts

No player has more inside knowledge of this course than John Baxter and putting his expertise to good use he shot 35 points to claim third.  In second place came Freddy Starbeck with 39 but sadly for Freddy he was just beaten for the top spot by Mike Rushant who achieved his second win in a golden week.

Saturday, Nov. 11, Pattavia – Stableford

1st Mike Rushant (12) 35pts

2nd Alex Chao (10) 34pts

3rd Gavin Hunt (11) 33pts

Lightning fast greens kept all of the players on their toes at Pattavia and no player in a field of 23 shot their handicap.

Gavin Hunt’s 33 points was a fine score in the conditions and it was good enough for the third prize.  Just beating Gavin into second was Alex Chao with 34 points on a day when the putter needed to be working.  Once again, however it was left to Mike Rushant to claim the honors and yet again take away the top prize.
