It was a slow old round for the Backyard lads at Emerald last Friday, Jan. 23.  Despite a smaller number of playing groups ahead of us it seems those that are out have taken it upon themselves not to rush their game and in fact continental drift was probably faster than some of them.

The big winner on the day with a great score of 43 stableford points was ‘Mr. Quiet’, his winning score being 8 better than the runner-up.

Near-pin was rolled over as not one player managed to get on and stay on the par 3, 15th hole.

The skins went to ‘Who Brought Him’ with a single (but he also won the 5 rollovers from the previous week), 4 to ‘Diet Whiskey’ who sorted out his bush problem from last week, 4 also to ‘The Biss’, 1 to ‘Second Hand Bob’, 5 to ‘Mickey The Yak’ and 2 to ‘Mr. Quiet’.

With the scribe out injured but walking with the players, there were quite a few hurry-ups handed out.

Then it was down the road for the refreshing beverages and the traditional free round from the winning player.

‘The Impregnator’ has announced his intention to take a break from the sport due to the slow play, so that will mean a lot less whinging on the course and afterwards.
