It was a week of pure golf in Pattaya as Siam Old Course was the host to the LPGA at the 2015 Honda Classic.  We had a great time up there as spectators as well as watching it live in the bar to see how the game is supposed to be played!

Just as a friendly reminder about our handicap policy; we accept your verified and recent handicap from your home course as well as a local IPGC or PSC handicap, whichever is lower.  If you don’t have an official handicap, you are still welcome to play with us but you will not be in our friendly comp where all handicaps are welcome.  We have to laugh when we hear of visitors coming over and playing with other bars and win with a 46.  Yeah, right!

A good crowd filled the sheet today as we headed up the 36 to Green Valley, with 9 groups on the list.  The course was in great shape as usual.

Nice to see Mr. Newbert taking time away from Siam to play with us today.  The Montauk Mauler shot his handicap to tie with Al and Adrian for joint 4th.  Silvio shot a respectable 37 but Larry Gilliam had his best round ever and finally jumped up the podium with a brilliant 38 for sole second.  It was a long wait Larry!  Scotsman Bob Mulholland did better by 2 as his 40 pointer was the cream of the crop.  Bob was due to leave Pattaya soon after to brave the cold back home.  What a way to finish!

Wednesday, Feb. 25, Khao Kheow A & B (yellow tees) – Monthly Medal

1st Al Maramoto (10) 72 net

2nd Kenny Aihara (4) 72 net

3rd Brad Sproxton (11) 74 net

4th Walter Baechli (16) 74 net

A change of pace for the Monthly Medal as we thought we would put the lads’ stroke play to the test and have the game at Khao Kheow.  I think all the golf bars in Pattaya have been playing here lately and with good reason.  This Pete Dye course is a great layout and in brilliant condition these days.

Working our way up the leaderboard, our colourful pal Walter Baechli got to 4th after being pipped at the post by smooth swingin’ Sproxton on count back.  Brad (aka the former Kaptain Klipboard) Sproxton took 3rd today and it looks like he is getting his mojo back with all this time off work!

Up the ladder a notch, it was an all-Japan 1-2 as the very familiar Kenny Aihara was 3 shots back on the back nine.  This left the Monthly Medal open to Al Maramoto, who is visiting us from the Aloha State, Hawaii.  Well played Khun Al and enjoy your Antigua shirt with your first star of many to come.  Mahalo!

Friday, Feb. 27, The Emerald (white tees) – Stableford

1st Dan Dietz (6) 36pts

2nd Alan Thomas (6) 34pts

3rd ‘Doc’ Beard (27) 32pts

Another beautiful day for golf in Pattaya as we headed down south for a round at The Emerald.  The sun was hot midway through the game and a few ruddy cheeks found their way back to the clubhouse for refreshments.

Our buddy ‘Doc’ Beard must have been quite happy as he found himself astride a couple of 6 handicappers on today’s podium.  Doc played really well here today and when you play off 27 and get more than 30 points on this course, ya done good!

Alan Thomas and Dan Dietz went head to head today and on this occasion Mr. Dietz came out on top.  Dan was the only golfer to shoot to his handicap so well played to you mate!
