Nakhon Pathom youths swept the qualifying round of the 8th Sepak Takraw Thai Championship Revo Cup at Pattaya School No. 7.
Youngsters from the Central Plain province finished first in the boys under 12 and teen categories, as well as the sole girls’ bracket.
Pathum Thani Province placed second and Chonburi came in third in two boys categories. In the girls’ bracket, Samut Sakhon took second place and Ratchaburi third.
Ornwara Kornpin, director of the Tourism Promotion Department, and Kahlong Yenjit, director of the Sports Authority of Thailand Region 1, opened the event organized by the SAT, Ministry of Education and the Takraw Association of Thailand.
The objective of the event was for youths to develop Takraw skills and build their way up to being part of national events.
First-place teams won 10,000 baht, second-place 8,000 baht and third place 5,000 baht.
Qualifications have been taking place in 4 regions: Isaan Region in Khon Kaen June 2-5, Northern Region in Phitsanulok June 9-12, Southern Region in Surat Thani June 16-19, and the Central Region in Chonburi June 23-26.
More than 3 million baht in total prizes will be up for grabs when the winners move on to the national championship in Bangkok July 8-10.
