IPGC Pattaya Golf Society at the Links Bar
The Pattaya Golf Society celebrated the New Year with a trip to distant Pattavia for its opening stableford competition of 2017. The course was in splendid condition and with more receptive greens than normal a close competition was on the agenda.
The single flight saw Vic Woolton score 32 points on his return for third place whilst the current usual suspects, Peter Wilson and American Dorsey Richardson shared the win with 36 points each.
The ‘2’s pot was shared by Karl Flood (13), Huw Phillips (17) and Dave Moriarty (17), the latter playing with little knowledge of the evening before his debut round this trip. He also fulfilled the role of steward for the day as Mr Len was on hospital call.
The consolation beer went to Chris Walsh and everyone shared a fine welcome to the New Year’s golf with PGS.
All in a day’s work for Larry
The PGS visited Crystal Bay on Thursday, 5th January to play a stableford competition on the course which saw the B and C nines well prepared. Conditions were very comfortable for playing and a good contest lay in store.
In the absence of the usual coordinator, Irishman Larry Slattery took quiet control of the group and the extra responsibly served him well as he recorded 38 points for an excellent win, some four points ahead of his nearest rivals Huw Phillips, Vic Woolton and Colin Service, the latter returning his best score (34) with the group since joining PGS six months ago.
There were no ‘2’s and John O’Sullivan savoured the consolation beer after his non-winner’s card was drawn from those making up the rest of the field.
Both Crystal Bay and Mountain Shadow are very popular with the group and it shows clearly that the Legacy group knows how to offer a product which gives enjoyment and value for money.
