Next-gen windsurfers compete in Pattaya tournament

Thailand’s next generation of windsurfers competed for recognition and cash at the second Pattaya Windsurfing Tournament earlier this month.

Deputy City Manager Wuthipol Charoenpol handed out trophies to a dozen youths vying for honors in four categories in the Aug. 4-6 tourney on Jomtien Beach.

The objective of the competition was to raise the standards of competition and develop skills among youths for future international tournaments.

Winners received trophies and small cash prizes.  The top three in each co-ed category, respectively, were:

Student Beginners – Paspong Liengkham, Kiethisak Wane­kaew, Sorawit Chaowcha-on.

Youth 6-Sq.-Meter Sails – Ratchanon Hongbin, Suti­pong Khamchaidee, Madan Klongyut.

Youth 7.8-Sq.-Meter Sails – Darin Meesa-ard, Arisara Homraruen, Aticha Homraruen.

Youth Big Techno –Boonyalit Sang-gnuen, Kithisak Samit, Tiwa Wongyanghang.
