Phoenix Tuesday/Friday Golf Group
Tuesday, April 3, Phoenix – Stableford
With the low season officially open as of the 1st April, the Phoenix management have set their green fees for guests to the following: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 900 Baht + 300 Baht caddy fee; and Tuesday & Thursday 800 Baht + 300 Baht caddy fee.
With a full complement of players today we set off on the Mountain and Ocean course. Lake course is now closed for (hopefully), improvement work? A nice mixture of golf today except that the stroke indexing is the same for both nines. Anyone with an odd number handicap can easily become confused at which holes they have a shot allowance. Never mind, the scribe and assistants are aware to check any cards as need be.

As you can see from the photo it was Bob Neylon (The Boston Burglar) who claimed the first prize with 38 points, closely followed by Ted Gardner with 37 points, with the scribe (Mike Gerrard) and Hugh Byrne sharing joint third place with 36 points each.
Near pins went to Gary Blackburne (of course), Tim Mason, Bob Neylon (as you have expected with his score today) and Ted Gardner (same).
The lucky draw prizes donated by our gracious hosts The Relax Bar at Ban Amphur went to Stuart Gordon, Peter Wiltshire, Joris Goetschalkx and Sergio Volpi.
I almost managed to get away before consuming too much alcohol, but was grabbed at the death and ended up having a wonderful time with some lovely people. That’s why we are here innit?
For those interested in joining us, we play golf every Tuesday, Friday and now Sunday at the same time of 11.28 am. We do insist that anyone wishing to join our group should be of a reasonable standard and have a current USGA or CONGU handicap of no more than 28. Players who cannot prove their handicap are welcome to play for technical prizes, lucky draw prizes and a free beer when they return to the presentation at the Relax Bar. There is one other criteria that must be met and that is we are a men players only group.
