Monday, March 21, Burapha – Stableford

1st Peter Nixon (13) 41pts

2nd Maurice Copan (14) 40pt

3rd Ronnalyn Carungay (32) 39pts

We have been getting the better of Burapha over the last few months, so we decided to toughen it up a bit and let everyone play off the blue tees.  Well, that didn’t stop the majority of players scoring well, and we still ended up with a third of the field beating handicap!

(From left) Gerry Hughes, Kazuo Sugaya, Steve Plant, Tony McDonough and Cotty.

With a beautiful swing, young lady Rona secured a third place scoring 39 points while Maurice Copan continued his good form following Hua Hin the week before to finish with 40 points and second place.  Our overall winner today with a fabulous 41 points was Peter Nixon, who is obviously determined to defend his order of merit title in 2016!

Wednesday, March 23, Greenwood – Stableford

A Flight

1st Stephen Mann (14) 38pts

2nd Phil Blanchard (6) 37pts

3rd David Martin (13) 36pts

B Flight

1st Kev Tompsett (22) 39pts

2nd Ron Meldrum (24) 36pts

3rd Geoff Harrison (18) 34pts

A great turnout and enjoyable day!  Taking on the 331 road construction, we set off for Greenwood and got there in about 50 mins. from the Outback.  This course presents exceptionally good value with a superb promotion to compensate for the traffic pains.

Many of our pundits commented on the great layout of the course, and although the greens were fairly slow, they were in very good condition.  Off the fairways and the green areas, signs of an early drought are to be seen, with a lot of dead leaves and vegetation to contend with if your ball flight misbehaves as much as mine does.

Kev Thompsett and Steve Mann.

Being a tough course, only 3 players got better than par on stabelford, which indicates that this course is a good and fair test.

In the B division, Geoff Harrison came in third place with 34 points, two behind second placed Ron Meldrum while the winner with a fantastic 39 points was Kev Tompsett.  In the A division, where a couple of us took the course on from the blue tees, the results were well balanced.  David Martin scored 36 points from the white tees and Phil Blanchard, playing superbly, finished on gross 77 and clinched second place with 37 points from the blue.  Our champ in the division, was Stephen Mann with a great 38 points.

There were 2 two’s today, from Brad Jordison and Steve Plant.

Friday, March 25, Green Valley – Medal

1st Steve Plant (14) net 66

2nd Gerry Hughes (23) net 66

T3rd Anthony McDonough (16) net 69

T3rd Kazuo Sugaya (25) net 69

5th Wayne Cotterell (14) net 70

6th Gerry Roche (17) net 71

It’s getting late in the high season, numbers remain good and we had a full field with 10 groups taking on Green Valley today.

The course played well and we did see some good scores today, with Mike Missler and Gerry Roche beating par with 71 net in 6th place, Cottee in 5th place with 70 net, and third place jointly to Tony McDonough and Kazuo Sugaya with a pair of 69s.  In second place, losing out on count back with a fantastic 66 was Gerry Hughes, and our overall net winner today was Steve Plant with another superb net 66.  Steve has been having a few rough scores over the time he’s been with us and I am pretty pleased to see a great game come through from him today.

Our Gross winner today with a score of 75 was Walter Panichi, a fantastic achievement.  There were 3 two’s from Mike Missler, Steve Plant and Gerry Roche.
