Twenty Pattaya students received 1,000 baht scholarships each when the Sawadee and Nongnam football clubs met in a charity friendly in Pattaya.

Nongnam FC took the match 4-1, but Pattaya students ultimately were the winners when Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome handed out the 20,000 baht raised through the game at the Jake Huey Football Stadium Sept. 15.

Each side made the final after going 2-1 in the opening rounds. Then it was Nongnam FC sending down two players, Akarachai and Aphichet, to score two goals each for the win.

Nongnam took control of the first half, kicking the first goal after its goal keeper got the ball all the way to front line player Veeroj, who took the first shot, which missed. Akarachai quickly followed, however, to put the ball in the net.

Sawadee responded with a shift in strategy, which netted their first goal.

Nongnam center Aphichet Inthawongsa got two free kicks, both successful, rounding out scoring in the first half.

Sawadee swapped out most its side in the second half, but it was Akarachai that put in the next goal, giving Nongnam its final goal.
