New Year’s Day always brings resolutions and for hundreds of Nongprue residents, that means running or walking 1,000 kilometers over a year.

The sub-district’s Public Health Department launched the “1,000 Kilometers in 365 Days” project in October with almost 1,000 people now signing up for it.

Director of Public Health and Environment Surapon Krimprasert said people can either run or walk to reach their goal. The first 1,000 people to register will receive a souvenir medal after they complete the year-long trek. Registration is still open to members of the public.

Nongprue launched the program to encourage people to exercise and stay healthy, taking advantage of the surge in interest in both running and cycling.
