This was the second Wednesday that we linked up with the Kull Bar from the darkside to play the new course Chee Chan, near Buddha Mountain. The previous week, Weds 10th Oct, we had a combined total of 11 players with Gareth Gill (Kull Bar) winning with 33pts while Geoff Tordoff (Lewinskis) took second on 30, beating Mick Beresford on countback.
This week the total numbers climbed up to 26 players (12 from Kull and 14 from Lewinskis). The decision was easy for the 2 venues to run their own competitions.
At Lewinskis, we divided the players into two divisions, Div A (0 – 14) and Div B (15+). In the premier flight Ron Beattie took the honours with 33 points, one ahead of Clinton Hall while David Dawson was third.
Bob Fagan also scored 33 points to won the second division, leaving Bob Fagan to take second on countback over Charlie Miller.
For a new course, Chee Chan is in amazing condition, the fairways are so good, carts are allowed on them, which is a great plus for the place and the greens are of good speed. The comments from the players were very favourable, with the exception that they permit 5-balls to play but that is just something we all have to get used to in Thailand. The rate look set to stay at the promotional level of 3200 baht until the end of the year. We currently plan to remain here every Wednesday.
