The rescheduled 22nd Pattaya Sports Club Charity Classic was held on February 12 on the A & B nines at Khao Kheow Golf Course, rescheduled because the first attempt to play this tournament (January 10) was washed out by torrential rain.
Pattaya Sports Club would like to thank all the participants who entered and played in this event; this is the PSC’s only drive for charity in the year and all monies collected during this tournament go to help improve the living and medical conditions for those in need plus provide education for underprivileged children.
This event takes weeks of planning and preparation and without the assistance of the Golf Committee, Dick Warberg, Sandy Mackay, Gerd Riedler, Steve Truelove and Nigel Cannon, it would be impossible to run. Big thanks also goes to the girls in the Pattaya Sports Club office who take care of all the registration and preparation of cards and start sheets, and who also did a great job at the presentation.
The competition was a 2-person better-ball stableford event, the major prizes for the tournament running 1st through 6th and from the final results the tournament was very close with a difference of 1 point in the top six pairs. Additionally there were technical prizes on all the holes and from comments it seems everyone had a great day.
The top three pairs had to be separated on count-back after they all registered 48 point scores. Coming in first place were Thomas Ostle and Brian Morville with 17 on the last six holes to Stephan Ford and Samuel Gettinby’s 15. Taking third place on the same score was the pairing of Orn Kansaengsri and Buppha Suriye.
The next three pairings on the podium were all locked on 47 points with Anders Pederersen and Hans Collet taking fourth spot over Chop Daprakhon and Duangden Galer in fifth and Mikael Andersson and Richard Goodwyn in sixth place.
A full listing of the technical prize winners can be found on the PSC website
A very big note of appreciation goes from the PSC to the management and staff from Khao Kheow Country Club who ensured that all had a pleasant round of golf, and they also assisted in the placement of the banners on the course on the previous day and allowed the consumption of the Singha sponsored beer in the clubhouse at the end of the round of golf
The presentation was held at the Holiday Inn on the following evening with an absolutely tremendous buffet, great music and a great atmosphere.
The tournament sponsors were acknowledged and thanked for their great generosity. This year’s sponsors were: (Double Platinum Sponsor) Holiday Inn; (Platinum Sponsors) Khao Kheow Country Club, Chris Dodd; (Gold Sponsors) Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club, Angkor Golf Resort; (Silver Sponsors) Singha, Burapha Golf Course, Serenity Hotel and Spa Kabinburi, Sergio Chiarandini, Outback Golf Bar, Diana Garden Resort, Links Hotel & Restaurant, Take It Easy Car & Bike Rental, Pattaya Rent a Car, Pleasant Valley Golf Course, Pattaya Country Club, Golfers from Café Kronborg, Siam Country Resort, Trattoria Italiano, Siam Physiotherapy, Walter Baechli, Jesters Care For Kids Pattaya, and Tahaitian Queen (TQ Bar Pattaya Beach Rd.)
