Back to the rainy season this past week, just when you think the worst is past, back it comes with a vengeance.  All week it had been extremely hot and by mid afternoon the thunderstorms rolled in and the deluges began.  In fact as I write it is hammering down outside.  These conditions do not make it any easier for the golfers but looking at the scores this week the hardy souls of the TRGG managed to play through it and have posted good returns.

On Monday 5th November (Guy Fawkes night back in England) the guys (excuse the pun) headed off to play Eastern Star.  Mike Rushant (H/cap 12) managed not to blow up his round and posted a winning total of 35pts to take first place.  Jim McNeill (15) marched into second place with 34pts and Jim Cleaver (12) came third on 33pts.

On Tuesday 6th November I arrived at our home base at the Ned Kelly Bar bright and early only to find it full of Aussies eagerly awaiting the start of the Melbourne Cup (prestigious horse race down-under) on the big screen TVs.  We were due to head off to Green Valley for a day’s golf but none of our betting contingent took the hint to back the eventual winner Green Moon.  However Ken Brehm (22), a rank outsider, played a magnificent round to gallop into first place with 41pts.  Yours truly, Andy Rich (21) stayed on to finish runner up on 37pts and Terry Smith (10) cantered into third with 36.

Thursday 8th November was Phoenix as usual (Ocean and Mountain courses).  Steady Teddy Senior (14) rose from the ashes (sorry I have gone pun mad now) to fire into first position with 39pts.  Bob Watson, playing off plus one, again showed what a good golfer he is by shooting 38pts and taking second on count back from Fergus Brennan (10).

On Saturday 10th November Crystal Bay (B and C courses) was the venue.  Paul Stanton (14) returned to these shores to take first place on 37pts and Magnus Alvarsson (16) strode into runners up spot with 36pts.
