IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Society

Sunday, May 22, Green Valley – Stableford

Back at Green Valley today for what was a much cooler and pleasant day for golf than what we have had for the past few weeks. Unfortunately the course is not in the condition we have come to expect here, with a lot of very bare patches both on and off the fairways and it needs attention very badly.

Allan Parker.
Allan Parker.

We saw some reasonable scores today with Allan Parker playing by far the best golf to come out on top with thirty eight points and also netting a birdie ‘2’ to make it an even better day for him.
Sam McLellan joined us today after a long absence and he came second with thirty five points while Michael Healy, just arrived from Ireland, settled in quickly to come third with thirty four, beating Joe McArdle and Geoff King on count back.

1st Allan Parker (11) 38pts
2nd Sam McLelland (13) 35pts
3rd Michael Healy (16) 34pts
4th Joe McArdle (12) 34pts
2’s: Allan Parker, Ged Foy.

Tuesday, May 10, Treasure Hill – Stableford

This was the first ever visit by the Tara Court group to Treasure Hill where we were joined by our friends from the PFGS. We found the course in excellent condition apart from some of the greens on the back nine where they had started to pole fork and sand them, but it was still great value for money at one thousand baht including a cart.

Bernie Van Zyl.

It was very quiet and we had the course virtually to ourselves – there is a lot to be said for low season golf when it is very cheap and private courses!

This is a difficult course but although many of us had never played here before we still had two players who managed to play to their handicaps, which is good golf here. Bernie Van Zyl had thirty six points and came out on top on the count back over Vincent Gras who was on one of his usual short visits. Bernie also got the only ‘2’ of the day to make it an even better payday for him.

Michael Healy repeated his score of Sunday and he came third with thirty four points while Craig Hitchens took the fourth and last podium place with twenty nine.

1st Bernie Van Zyl (20) 36pts
2nd Vincent Gras (18) 36pts
3rd Michael Healy (16) 34pts
4th Craig Hitchens (14) 29pts
2’s: Bernie Van Zyl.

Thursday, May 12, Burapha C &D – Stableford

On the A and B courses here again today at Burapha where we found the greens to be back to their usual perfect condition. It was actually very quiet despite it being a Sports Day and for the first eight holes we had the course virtually to ourselves. When we got to the ninth we caught up with a five-ball but they moved on very quickly when they saw us coming up behind them and we still got around in three hours forty minutes.

Russell Gilroy.
Russell Gilroy.

The group was small today and only three prizes were on offer, with Russell Gilroy keeping up the good golf he has been playing lately and taking the top spot with thirty seven points. Joe McArdle came second with thirty six points and Bernie Stafford, who was playing his first ever game with us, took the third place with thirty five. We had no ‘2’s today.

1st Russell Gilroy (17) 37pts
2nd Joe McArdle (12) 36pts
3rd Bernie Stafford (16) 35pts
