A Flight’s young Pat Reagan, freshly back in town, was man of the match with 41 points on the friendly confines of Green Valley. Mind you, he needed nearly every one of those shots as Aberdeen’s favorite son Mark Wood was just three shots back to take the silver, followed a further shot back by Peter Larsson who blew the whistle on Terry Mangan in a count back for the bronze. Colum Mullen’s even par round was good only for a mention.

Since joining the society on a regular Sunday basis, Barry Tregurtha has found the pickings a little easy and finds it hard leave. Barry was again the top man in the junior flight with a solid 38 points. Don ‘I’m getting married in the morning’ Lehmer returned an even par round to join Barry on the podium steps but at a lower level. Quadrumvirates of players were log jammed a further shot back and ‘The Principal’s’ maths added up more favorably than Eddy ‘the Eagle’s. Big Liam McGuinness and Mike ‘the mechanic’ were left at sea level and satang less. (Let’s hope Jez’s luck as finally changed.)
By the time this issue hits the streets the Co. Offaly gang will have returned to Ireland for their regular visit to Sand Baggers Anonymous.
Six 2’s were recorded on the day.
Monday, November 21, Crystal Bay B &C – Stableford
A Flight

By society standards it was a relatively quiet day as the field fell into two lucrative flights. I will fail to mention that last Sunday’s hole in one boy Peter Henshaw’s 28 points was the lowest score in his flight. Peter it seems is still celebrating his hole in one feat, this omission at his own request.
Mo Lamkin built up some points (and loot) just in time to pay for his taxi to the airport. Mo’s 42 points was the best of the day and a junior fight winning score. A pair of Micks (sorry Colum) were holding down second and third spots thanks to a count back which favored Tom Gorey over Christy Good Knight as both finished on 41 points.
It was the same old story in the senior flight as Andrew ‘you know who, from you know where’ finished on 40 rock solid points. Conner Doyle from the same place took the silver two strokes back. It was Tora Tora all the way for the bronze as Takeshi Hakozaki emerged from a three-way count back. Michal Goggin and for the second time in two games the out of luck Terry Mangan received nothing.
Takeshi Hakozaki san and Tom Gorey split a very healthy 2’s pot.
Wednesday, November 23, Greenwood A & B – Stableford

Young Pat Regan was man of the match and top in A Flight as he finished just one stroke short of Sunday’s 41 points. Let’s hope Pat keeps playing like this as his new on the way handicap will require it.
It was good to see Peter ‘the right honorable’ Hynard climbing the podium steps as he returns to form, not that anyone doubted that he soon would. Ireland’s Conner Doyle made it to the podium again this week as his 34 points completed the A Flight payees.
The laurels in B Flight went to the ‘Welsh Wizard’ Mike Jeffreys as he edged Peter Wallace on count back as both were locked on 39 points. The Donkey did a bit of mental arithmetic with a calculator (yes I know) to sort out the final place as a quadrumvirate of players was log jammed on 35 points. Adam Oyston, Pierre Bietry and Paul Robinson were the unlucky lads as Michael Goggin took the bronze.

Friday, November 25, Mountain Shadow – Stableford

The leader of the Co. Offaly gang Kevin Mcentee was the story of the day as the society braved a Friday Sukhumvit to take a trip to Mountain Shadow. Kevin’s 37 point return was the only card that bettered par, and so took the senior flight and man of the match honors. Kevin put a two shot gap on fellow gang member Andrew Byrne (not to worry lads there off soon) while Chaten ‘Raj’ Patel stopped the Irish boys in their tracks as he gained a count back decision over Conner Doyle for third.
The junior flight struggled today as Irishman Peter Wallace took the top place with 34 points. Compatriot Christy ‘Good’ Knight retuned 29 points for the silver and Aussie Louis Szigligeti, who for the sake of fitting in the allotted slot will hereafter be known as Zig Zag, took the bronze and once again stopped the Irish boys from clearing up as the crafty Sean Murphy was waiting in the wings.
Goodbye to Kevin, Scotland’s Reg McKay and Eddy Delaney (two Irishmen again) shared the 2,s pot. If my maths is correct the Irish lads have filled half the podium places this past week.
