Sunday, Feb. 25, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Pat Regan (18) 45pts
2nd Peter Terry (25) 42pts
3rd Peter LeNoury (17) 38pts
4th Eddy Beilby (26) 38pts
Sunday marked the first visit to Green Valley this week to play our regular stableford competition. The course at the moment is in fine condition but the weather proved to be very hot and there were many red and weary looking players returning to the bar later.
Peter Terry must have thought he had the game in the bag as he walked off the course with a fine 42 points, only to find Ireland’s Par Reagan had a 45 point return that also gave him a 50% share of the ‘2’s pot along with Jimmy ‘AK-47’ Bell. A count-back was required to separate Peter LeNoury and Eddy Beilby as both were tied on 38 points when the divots had landed it was Peter’s back nine that prevailed.
Tuesday, Feb. 27, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Tim Knight (26) 39pts
2nd Mick Beresford (15) 35pts
3rd Howard Bland (23) 34pts
4th Steve Mann (13) 33pts
Green Valley always favours the better golfers, even if the competition is a stableford, as the course demands quality shots to score hole after hole. It was therefore no surprise to find two of the steadiest regulars heading the prize list today, with ‘the thunder from down under’ Tim Night and the golf manager Mick Beresford filling the top two places. Mick was one stroke clear of Howard Bland in third spot and a further shot clear of Steve Mann.
Steve Mann and Dick Bainbridge split the 2’s pot.
