IPGC Pattaya Golf Society at the Links Bar
One of the final events of the year saw the Pattaya Golf Society visit the excellent Pattana course for a stableford competition from the white tees, a tall order as the well grassed fairways are always soft and yielding.
Having played all low season from the yellows it was time for the big boys to strut their stuff. Having finally been persuaded to go for the long option the organiser would now see what all the fuss was about. There were still complaints as this time the course was adjudged too long! Still it was a good test of golf.
Scores were correspondingly on the low side with 31 points giving a share of third place to John Holmes, Rod Stevens and Dave Lehane. The form man at present is Peter Wilson and his resurgence is down to playing more golf, plenty of practice and some quality long putting. He managed 33 points with his best gross 83 for second place whilst the returning Dorsey Richardson went one better with an excellent 34 points taking the victory.
There were six ‘2’s, all on B3, so small pickings all round.
The only disappointment about the course at the moment is a rather inflated green fee rate and this may well see the group limit its appearances there but next time yellow tees will be the order of the day.
