Bangkok Casuals League 2012 Season

Pattaya City lost to last season’s champions 3-1 last month and in their next match they were leading local rivals Planet 3-2 when the rains appeared after 60 minutes and the match was then abandoned due to a water logged pitch.  The following cup match in Bangkok also ended with a 1-0 defeat, so City were looking for a win as they traveled to Bangkok last weekend to play Bangkok FC.

The visitors received a shock at the start of the game when in the second minute a Bangkok forward, who was stood in an offside position, received the ball in space and with no whistle from the referee he made no mistake to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

City hit back, bringing a good save from the Bangkok keeper with a dipping shot by Dipta.  The same player made life difficult for the home defence with his trickery and brought another two good saves from the Bangkok goalkeeper but it was the Bangkok team that nearly went further ahead when a long clearance downfield took a fluke bounce past the City keeper, who then somehow managed to scramble back to punch the ball from the goal line and out to safety.

City hit back with good attacking football and brought two good saves by the Bangkok keeper and also hit the bar with a rasping shot by Rakotonirina but the home team held out until the half time break.

City pressed again in the second half but the final killer ball was missing from their play and Bangkok broke in a rare attack, only to see their forward’s shot hit the City post.  Bangkok then gained a free kick just outside the City penalty area which resulted in the ball going into the top corner to make it 2-0.

The game was becoming scrappy but City’s Dipta had a shot that hit the bar after a smart four man move.  The pressure was telling on the Bangkok defence and City were rewarded a free kick and the shot from Rakstonirina again hit the Bangkok woodwork and the same player brought two great saves from the home team keeper.

In one final push to get City on the score sheet, Dipta made a dazzling run down the right and his centre found the diving Tshuma but his header went just wide and the final score remained Bangkok 2, Pattaya City 0.
