Pattaya C.C. produced another strong performance to maintain their unbeaten start to the new cricket season.

Facing up against Siam C.C. at the picturesque Thai Polo Ground last weekend, Pattaya were asked to bat first under unusually leaden skies.  Venky (23) and debutant Mick Davies (27) gave the home side the ideal start with excellent running between the wickets and taking the score to 58 before Venky was given out lbw.  Pattaya captain Simon Philbrook soon followed in similar circumstances but the platform was set for a challenging score.  Andy Emery (32) and the returning Paul Hack (21) maintained the innings momentum as PCC posted 152/5 from their allotted 25 overs.

In reply Siam CC were immediately put under pressure by the Pattaya opening bowlers, Sam Nethery (1/17) and Andy Emery (2/11).  Wickets began to fall regularly when David Scott (3/16) and Bernard Lamprecht (3/11) bowled in tandem and the required run rate increased alarmingly.  Only Stan Matthews (23) offered any real resistance and when the veteran Scotty had Ankul Relia (23) caught behind the result was never in doubt.

Even Ajun, the 12 year old PCC junior, bowled 5 overs of leg spin and eventually Siam CC closed their innings on 96/9.  Andy Emery was awarded the man of the match medal in recognition of his fine all round performance.

With three wins out of three, PCC top the Bangkok Cricket League table and the next league fixture is at home on Sunday 31st January.  All are welcome to come along and support and are encouraged to visit the club website www.pattayacricketclub.com or the Facebook page.
