Organizers have postponed a month-long basketball tournament until next year out of respect for the mourning period for His Majesty the King.
The Pattaya Cup, originally planned for Oct. 28-Nov. 27, will be held instead in January, said Sanphet Suphabuansathien, President of the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Region.
The postponement came even though the event falls outside the 30-day window set by the government prohibiting any festivals or celebrations.
The event is being held with the cooperation of the Basketball Sport Association of Thailand to popularize basketball and develop the skills of players. It will be staged at the Eastern National Indoor Sports Stadium.
